Ruyun Xiao is a (graphic, exhibition) designer, (scientific) illustrator and (design) researcher based in New York City. Her works explorer using scientific research methodology and knowledge to develop graphic systems.

She is currently working as a 2D designer at Ralph Appelbaum Associates. She received an MFA in Communications Design from Pratt Institute in 2018, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate from the Maryland Institute College of Arts in 2016 and a BA in Advertising from the Beijing University of Technology in 2015.

Her clients include the American Museum of Natural History (New York, U.S.), National Air and Space Musem (Washington, D.C., U.S.), Imperial War Museum (London, UK), Clinton Precdential Center (Arkansas, U.S.), Cherokee National Museum (Oklahoma, U.S.), National Veterans Memorial and Museum (Ohio, U.S.), Nanjin Planetarium (Nanjin, China), Orientalist Museum (Doha, Qatar).
